Praise for this book

As I closed the cover on "Rise of the Storm Lord", I felt a sense of awe and wonder that lingered long after the final page. This book is more than just a fantasy epic - it's an immersive experience that wraps around your heart and mind, refusing to let go.

The author's masterful storytelling weaves a complex tapestry of characters, each one richly drawn and relatable. The Storm Lord's journey from obscurity to legend is both captivating and haunting, echoing the darker aspects of human nature. I found myself drawn into the world, feeling the weight of every decision, every triumph, and every heartbreak.

What resonated most with me was the exploration of power, ambition, and the human condition. The author raises uncomfortable questions about the cost of greatness, the corrupting influence of power, and the true meaning of leadership. These themes are woven throughout the narrative, adding depth and nuance to the story.

The world-building is nothing short of phenomenal, with a richly detailed environment that feels lived-in and real. The magical system is complex and fascinating, with a logic that adds depth to the story.

What I loved most about "Rise of the Storm Lord" is its ability to balance action, politics, and magic, creating a narrative that's both gripping and thought-provoking. This book is a must-read for anyone who loves fantasy, adventure, or just great storytelling. Be prepared to lose yourself in the world, to feel the storm raging around you, and to emerge transformed by the experience.

"A Must Read"
Follow the journey of Jerith, a man overcoming a childhood illness to become a feared hero with only one thing in mind, retribution.

Rise of the Storm Lord by Joe Herod

A fantastical journey written by Joe Herod casts Jerith Al'sut as our hero protagonist front and center. From meager beginnings, he is an underdog. Born with an illness that hinders his physical strength, his mother introduces him to books. As his mental acumen increases, we witness a tug-of-war of ideals with Jerith and his father on how to deal with the oppression within his people. Through perseverance, Jerith begins to see his fate change. His strength begins to match his mental aptitude, and he decides he shall be a slave no more. Ignoring warnings from his father, Jerith follows his heart with rebellious vigor. While this deed of heroism fuels rage within his stoic community, he is ultimately confined and lashed for his disobedience. He is condemned to occupy his days as a slave in the Serpent's Maw, Ulthean's mines, to live as an unwanted. As a final card is dealt from the hand of destiny, an unexpected circumstance watches as Jerith is about to embark on a power that will turn the tide for his people.

"Because in times of darkness, when the world tries to break you, it's that inner strength, that sense of self-worth, that will keep you standing." How profound are the words from the author? Bravo, I say! The image of Arnold Schwarzenegger kept creeping into my mind as I saw him rotating the wheel of pain in Conan the Barbarian. The writing style was exceptional and harkened back to a literary delivery in the realm of authors such as Rothfuss, Abercrombie, and Sanderson. The employment of a scribe named Harrison, who chronicles Jerith's tale was brilliant. Harrison's submissive personality helped create a stark contrast which assisted Jerith's own to a god-like reverence.

Upon looking back, I can say this. I can only look forward to what will become of this story. How will the guide lead us through a landscape of tyranny? This story is nothing new. By my admission, I have seen a movie with the slave overcoming the odds to become a hero. However, this labor of love deserves the highest praise. For this, I am giving it 5 of 5 stars, Highly Recommended!
